The play
One work follows a body through the search for self-love and the mythology of the mandrake. The petal game “She loves me — she loves me not” turns inward, while the body as a root brings resistance, uprooting and transformation into the same dramatic world.
Live image and sound
Contemporary dance and live voice unfold alongside real-time visuals and live music composition. Dramaturgy, direction and live composition are by Arturo Gui.
In development
MARGARITA/MANDRAGORA is currently in development. Presentation dates and venues will be shared when confirmed.
About Arturo Gui
Arturo Gui is a countertenor, director and audiovisual performance artist. His practice brings together live voice and images generated in real time from the performer’s movement. Drawing on Baroque opera and Byzantine hymnody, his audiovisual rituals turn the performing face and body into an evolving image.
Writing as Lampros Filippou, he is the founder of Acting Truth Academy and author of The Deep-Truth Method™ and the forthcoming What Is Missing? A Dramaturgical Diagnosis of Reality. His directing, writing and dramaturgical practice investigate what obstructs expression, examining the relationships, rhythms and chains of consequence that shape a work.
For MARGARITA/MANDRAGORA, Arturo Gui creates the dramaturgy, direction and live composition.
